Crafting on a Movie Junket with Amanda Seyfried
Back in October, I received an email where Cricut asked me to be part of a movie junket for The Housemaid. It was one of those moments where you reread the message a few times just to make sure you’re understanding it correctly.
Not only was this a movie junket, but I would be crafting on camera, representing Cricut, and sitting down with Amanda Seyfried.
As exciting as it was, I was so nervous!
Moments before leaving my house, I had a thought: Should I bring Amanda a paper flower?
It felt meaningful, paper flowers are literally what I do but I overthought it. I worried it might feel weird or unprofessional, or that it could put pressure on her in some way. So I decided not to bring anything and headed to Hollywood, trying to be calm and cool.
When I arrived on set, everything felt very official. I was given a few lines Lionsgate wanted me to say, and again I was so nervous. My voice was shaky, my hands were shaky, and even though crafting is second nature to me, I was shaking while crafting too.
But then I met Amanda.
From the moment we started talking, she was incredibly kind, warm, and genuinely easy to talk to. I was still nervous but our conversation flowed. At one point, I asked how Cricut became involved with the movie, and that’s when I learned something that surprised me, Amanda loves crafting, which is exactly why this collaboration came together.
When I finally sat down with her on set, I asked what kinds of crafts she enjoys most.
Her answer? Paper flowers.
I don’t think I’ve ever internally screamed louder.
I immediately thought, Oh my gosh, I make paper flowers. That is literally what I do. And in that exact moment, I felt a tiny wave of regret for not bringing one with me. I was so sad I didn’t trust my instinct earlier, it would have been such a perfect, full-circle gift.

I’m beyond excited that I can finally share this now that the post has gone live. You can find the Instagram post from the movie junket linked here, and I can’t wait for you to see it.
The experience was absolutely unforgettable. Crafting alongside Amanda, sharing genuine conversation, and being part of something so far outside my usual day-to-day felt surreal in the best way.
This opportunity was a reminder that the things we pour our hearts into, often quietly, behind the scenes, can lead to moments we never imagined. I’m so grateful to Cricut for trusting me with this experience and for allowing crafting to take center stage in such a unique setting.

This is one of those memories I’ll carry with me forever… shaky hands, missed paper flowers, and all.
