DIY Halloween Costume

I do miss the days when my niece was a little girl and all she wanted to be was a princess and we could simply buy the girliest Cinderella outfit from the Disney Store. She’s 9 now and all those princess outfits are stored in the back of her closet. She told me she wanted to be Eevee and of course I had no idea what that was but since I’m kind of the best auntie ever, I did my research and bought some nice felt (may be more expensive than her princess costumes), designed a cute little dress and started sewing.

Different shades of brown with a furry fabric all from Joann’s. I attached the ears onto the headband and I had to do the tail. I sewed a basic dress pattern. Originally had it with long sleeves but it felt a little too stiff so we decided to cut the arms to make them into short sleeves.

I love how it turned out and she loved it too! I also attached a bow in the front as a belt to give some shape to the dress. The tail had velcros on the side so it could stand up. I want to say it was a little tricky to do this but I had way too much fun sewing and researching little pokemons. I can’t wait to experiment making costumes for my little one, once he knows how to tell me what he wants to be for Halloween.
